Gordon lives in the town of Carluke in South Lanarkshire. He graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 1987 with a BSc degree in Environmental Health and went on to obtain a Diploma in Environmental Management & ISO 14001 Auditing. He is a Chartered member of the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland and an associate member of the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment.
Gordon is currently a Chartered Environmental Health Officer working within the Pollution Control & Public Health Team of North Lanarkshire Council. Part of his duties involve assessing planning applications, including amongst other things, Wind Farms and assessing any possible environmental impacts they may create.
Gordon first became interested in the work of Energy4All following a presentation they made to him as part of a planning application. As an environmentalist and regulator, he is always looking for opportunities to support sustainable development and green initiatives. The generation of safe, clean, sustainable energy for the benefit of the community giving a better than average financial return to investors seemed like a great opportunity to invest and become involved. As a result, he became a member of Spirit of Lanarkshire Wind Energy Cooperative. Gordon has experience sitting on a number of boards in an advisory capacity and as he lives and works within Lanarkshire, he felt he would like to become more involved and make a positive contribution to Spirit of Lanarkshire by joining the board. He has been chairman for the last 5 years.
Gordon is also a member of Auchrobert Community Energy Society and is currently on the board of directors.
Jim is Energy4All’s Development Manager in Scotland. He lives in Hamilton and chaired the board of the Spirit of Lanarkshire Wind Energy Co-op for many years. He is currently on the boards of the Edinburgh Community Solar Co-operative and the Highland Community Hydro Society among others.
Jim’s role is to develop opportunities for Energy4All in Scotland, helping them to extend the scope of community-owned renewable energy. Jim is working with communities across Scotland to help them gain maximum benefit from renewable energy projects in hydro, on-shore wind, solar and district heating.
Jim has been involved in the Co-operative Movement over a number of years and is Chair of the Thistle Credit Union which is based in Lanarkshire. Before joining Energy4All in 2016, he worked for the Scottish Fair-Trade Forum and before that for Community Links in South Lanarkshire.
